REMPEC

The Regional Marine Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) is a United Nations Centre established in Malta since 1976 by the Mediterranean coastal States.  The Centre is operated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) within the framework of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) which is one of the Regional Seas Programmes of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The present Office of REMPEC consists of 9 persons of various nationalities.  In line with the Centre’s continued development, REMPEC is seeking to fill the post of Secretary/Administrative Assistant (G.5).

Commencement of duty: 1 September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary information: Approximately Euros 20,271 net per annum will be paid, exempt from Maltese income tax, but subject to other deductions. Excellent benefits and entitlements are also provided.

Contract Information: The first year of the contract will be probationary with the possibility of further extension subject to satisfactory performance.  This vacancy is for local recruitment only (Local status requires candidates to have unhindered and complete eligibility to live and work in Malta).

Purpose of the post:
Reporting to the Head of Office at REMPEC and supporting the Technical Officers of the Centre, the incumbent will perform a variety of administrative and secretarial duties related to the operation of REMPEC.
