The Regional Marine Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) is a United Nations Centre established in Malta since 1976 by the Mediterranean coastal States.  The Centre is operated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) within the framework of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) which is one of the Regional Seas Programmes of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The present Office of REMPEC consists of 9 persons of various nationalities.  In line with the Centre’s continued development, REMPEC is seeking to fill the post of Secretary/Administrative Assistant.


The applicant will assist the Head of Office and Programme Officers of the Centre in day-to-day requirements performing a broad range of administrative duties including drafting and processing relevant correspondence, filing, archiving, organizing meetings, travel arrangements, liaise with International Officials contacting the Centre in the Mediterranean countries. He/She will be expected to work within multicultural and international environment, working diligently and often under minimal supervision.

The candidate should have completed a level of Secondary education (formal secretarial training an advantage), have at least five years of professional experience in an administrative / secretarial role in an International organization and have written and oral proficiency in English and French (knowledge of Arabic an asset).

The gross salary presently stands at Euros 20,271 net (G5 Step1) per annum, free of income tax but subject to deductions.
