The Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) welcomed the General Commander of the Italian Coast Guard, Admiral Nicola Carlone at the Centre.
It was a fruitful and productive meeting in which both parties discussed the challenges and opportunities to the protection of the marine environment in the Mediterranean Region.
The Head of Office, Mr Ivan Sammut, took the opportunity to thank Admiral Carlone for the commitment and support that Italy has always shown towards the aims and objectives of REMPEC and towards capacity building in the Mediterranean Sea.
REMPEC also commended the Italian Coastguard for the successful oil pollution emergency exercises carried out bilaterally with the Armed Forces of Malta and Transport Malta with the participation of REMPEC as part of the Barracuda 2025.
REMPEC appreciated the opportunity to have such a fruitful and collaborative meeting.
