Third MonGOOS meeting, Lecce, Italy, 26-28 November 2014 – Nov 26, 2014

The third MonGOOS meeting was held in Lecce, Italy from the 26th to the 28th November 2014. It was hosted by the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change.

The meeting was attended by MonGOOS representatives and its partners. The main objective of the Meeting was to update all attendees on, inter alia, the MonGOOS status, the 2014 activities, as well as data and modeling working group activities

Following a presentation by REMPEC on the EU funded Ecosystem Approach (EcAp) Project currently implemented by UNEP/MAP, the possible cooperation between MonGOOS and UNEP/MAP under the EcAp Monitoring and Assessment Programme was discussed. MonGOOS was invited to present the data and products available amongst its member at the forthcoming EcAp Integrated CORMON to be held in Rome between 25 and 27 February 2015.

REMPEC also presented the achievements conducted under the REMPEC-MOON Collaboration Agreement. On the latter, all parties agreed to renew the agreement of the REMPEC-MOON Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), which expired in May 2014. The ongoing renewal will be called REMPEC-MONGOOS, and relates to REMPEC and to MONGOOS' Members (after the entry in force of MONGOOS MoA).
