REMPEC organises a National Workshop on the use of Dispersants, Alger, Algeria, 21-22 October 2008 – Oct 21, 2008

Twenty-three (23) participants from different Algerian departments and ministries attended the National Workshop on the Use of Dispersants organised by the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) in collaboration with the Algerian Ministry of National Planning, Environment and Tourism. The workshop, financed in the framework of the Technical Cooperation Programme of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), was held in Algiers, Algeria between 21 and 22 October 2008.

The objective of the workshop was to provide the competent authorities with the basic knowledge to develop a national policy for the use of dispersants, to introduce related methodologies, to define terms of collaboration between the departments and ministries concerned by the subject and to agree on an action plan.

The workshop participants adopted set of recommendations with a view to establishing an action plan for the development of a national policy on the use of dispersants in Algeria.
