IMO Regional Workshop on MARPOL Annex VI – Ship Energy Efficiency and Technology Transfer – Nov 03, 2014

Within the framework of the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and in line with REMPEC’s activities included in UNEP/MAP’s programme of work 2014-2015, REMPEC will be organising the IMO Regional Workshop on MARPOL Annex VI – Ship Energy Efficiency and Technology Transfer which is being held at the Elite World Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, from the 3 to 5 November 2014. The Workshop, which is being organised in close co-operation with IMO and hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey, is being financed by IMO ITCP, REMPEC’s MTF budget, and through a voluntary contribution by the Government of Malta to REMPEC. Although the Workshop would be conducted primarily in English, simultaneous interpretation English – French – English will be provided.

The objective of the Regional Workshop is to provide detailed information with regard to the most recent amendments to Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention and the responsibilities of Parties under the Convention.  Participants will receive practical information on the adoption, implementation and enforcement of the new regulations, as well as address further capacity building and technology transfer needs/activities within the Mediterranean region. 

The Workshop is aimed at government administrators responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the MARPOL Convention.  Participants from national authorities should be of a senior level within their administrations with areas of responsibility involving both technical and policy-making decisions.
