Visit to REMPEC of Mr Kitack LIM, IMO Secretary General – May 30, 2016

On Friday 27th May, Mr ​​​Kitack LIM, who was elected Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for a four-year period beginning 1 January 2016, accompanied by Mr Nicolaos Charalambous, Director, IMO Technical Cooperation Division and Ambassador Lino Vassallo, Malta, Permanent Representative to IMO met with REMPEC’s staff members, on the occasion of his first official visit to Malta, to preside the 27th graduation ceremony of the International Maritime law Institute (IMLI).

The same day, Mr LIM launched the Volume III of the IMLI Manual on International Maritime Law on Marine Environmental Law and International Maritime Security Law, which includes chapters on the conventions relating to pollution incident preparedness, response, cooperation, and the relevance of regional cooperation, written by Mr. Gabino Gonzalez, Head of Office of REMPEC, in collaboration with Mr. Frederic Hebert, former Director of REMPEC, and in consultation with IMO, UNEP, regional agreements, and other stakeholders.
