Call for applications for the position of Junior Professional Officer at REMPEC, extended to 31 October 2021 – Sep 03, 2021

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced a position for Junior Professional Officer at the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) in Malta, through IMO Circular Letter No. 4353 dated 17 February 2021, a copy of which is attached herewith in English for ease of reference.


The IMO Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme is a voluntary programme under which IMO Member States sponsor the secondment of young professionals from their country to work at IMO. All positions are subject to funding by the relevant IMO Member State and the appointment is limited to the period of funding. Contracts are fixed term for one (1) year with the possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory performance, for up to a total of three (3) years. IMO does not guarantee employment beyond this period of contract as a JPO.


As stated in IMO Circular Letter No. 4353, IMO Member States willing to participate in the programme are encouraged to submit a maximum of three (3) applicants for the JPO position at REMPEC. Only applications submitted through the respective IMO Member State will be considered.

All applications should be sent by e-mail to: msp@imo.org, by the sponsoring IMO Member State quoting “Position number: JPO 20-05” and accompanied by an IMO Personal History Form, a copy of which is also attached herewith in English for ease of reference.The deadline for applications has been extended to 31 August 2021. It is expected that the selected JPO will take up his/her assignment at REMPEC before the end of 2021.”
