National Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) Spill Response Training Course held in Cairo – Nov 26, 2017

In collaboration with the Egyptian Environment Affairs Agency (EEAA), REMPEC organised a training course management on Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) Spills Response.

The training course was financed by the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and was held at the Hotel Holliday Inn Maadi, in Cairo, Egypt, between Sunday, 26 November 2017 and Thursday, 30 November 2017.

The objectives of the training course aimed in delivering a complete training session on accidental pollutions by HNS in Marine Environment for facilitating the development of a National Contingency Plan dedicated to the Response to HNS and to ease the bridge conception between the different various Egyptian stakeholders of the Response at sea.

The training course was delivered by REMPEC and two international facilitators from the Centre of Documentation, Research and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution (Cedre) and the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF). The facilitators were selected for the involvement in planning and responding to HNS incidents, their expertise and experience.

The active participation and relevant expertise of the thirty five (35) delegates as well as the logistical support of EEAA in the organisation of this event were greatly appreciated and were keystone to the success of this training session.
