Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), 69th Session, 18-22 April 2016 – Apr 18, 2016

REMPEC participated in the 69th  Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 69), held at IMO headquarters in London, UK, between 18 and 22 April 2016.

The main outcome of MEPC  69 concerned the approval of the mandatory system for collecting ships’ fuel consumption data, the establishment of a working group for the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from ships at MEPC 70, the adoption of amendments to MARPOL, the implementation of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM) Convention, the energy efficiency of international shipping; the fuel oil quality; the taking of a decision on sulphur limit to take place at MEPC 70; and the “Port reception facilities – How to do it” updated manual.
