7th Meeting of the EuroMed Sub-group on Maritime Safety (Safemed II Project Advisory Committee Meeting) – Dec 06, 2012

The 7th Meeting of the EuroMed Sub-group on Maritime Safety, which also acts as the Safemed II roject Advisory Committee Meeting, was held in Brussels on 6 December 2012.

With the Safemed II Project coming to an end at the end of 2012, this meeting offered an ideal opportunity to brief the participants with the Project’s significant achievements while providing information on the follow-up Project, the Safemed III Project. The participants were also briefed on the results of the Regional Transport Action Plan (RTAP) survey on maritime safety conducted by the European Commission (EC) and discussed the recommendations arising out of this survey. Information was also provided on the EC’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX) and Twinning Instruments and on the latest developments regarding European maritime safety policy and legislation.

The National Contact Points of the SafeMed II Project as well as Representatives from the European Commission (EC), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), the Mediterranean Memorandum for Understanding on Port State Control (Med MoU on PSC) and the Centre for Transportation Studies for the Western Mediterranean (CETMO) attended the Meeting.
