A series of 14 national workshops on the assessment of management capabilities and national systems to respond to marine oil pollution and on the implementation of improvement plan, respectively, will be organised in Albania (18-20 October), Bosnia and Herzegovina (10-12 October), Croatia (26-28 September), Cyprus (27-29 September), Egypt (tbc), Greece (5-6 July), Israel (18-20 October), Lebanon (tbc), Libya (24-26 October), Montenegro (13-14 October), Slovenia (13-19 September), Syria and Turkiye (24-26 October) as well as Monaco (26-27 July) 

 

The aim of the process is threefold: 

  • to develop exhaustive and complete national self-assessments of the level of preparedness to respond to Oil Spills and consequent Global Improvement Programme (GIP) identifying specific improvements areas of spill response preparedness and readiness; 
  • to adopt an effective and achievable National Implementation Plan of the GIP to complete actions in order to achieve the objectives of sustaining and improving spill response readiness; and  
  • to define a set of activities deriving from the National Implementation Plans to be carried out at the sub-regional and regional level.
