National training and Meeting for the development of the National Contingency Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), is organizing a National Workshop on Emergency Response (to marine pollution incidents) at managerial level in Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 27 to 28 April 2021. This activity is organized within the project for the development of the National Contingency Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina funded by the Mediterranean Trust Fund. It is expected that this activity will deliver a draft National Contingency Plan for its consideration and eventual adoption by the competent authorities increase the number of countries with an adopted plan to 19 out 21.

Overall, 20 participants comprising senior officials, management staff and administrators from state, federal, cantonal and local authorities and services having responsibilities for responding to civil emergencies and for maritime affairs, as well as their counterparts from industry and civil society organizations.

The objective of the workshop is to introduce to the participants the basic principles of marine oil and HNS pollution, of preparedness for response and response to it, as well as key concepts in this field.

Back-to-back with the Workshop, a first Meeting of the competent authorities in charge of the National Contingency Plan will be organized to discuss the NCP outline, and the way forward for its completion.
